About Us
DIRTYCLEAN events bring together passionate communities for small-scale, minimal-impact, unconventional races set against breathtaking backdrops. DIRTYCLEAN赛事汇聚充满激情的社群,在令人屏息的壮丽风景中举办小规模、低影响、别具一格的竞速活动。
DirtyClean is a non-profit collective formed and run by cyclists that provides challenges and races in alternative formats. Our goal is to support start-up challenges, races, and events that benefit the community with new and different formats. These events are small-scale, have minimal environmental impact, and bring together the social, community, and competitive aspects of our sport. They are also there to build self-reliance and provide a platform to tell meaningful storytelling.
We held our first event in 2019 at wildhomestay and have been running a couple of events a year ever since. Some are “Dirty”, all surface – gravel / Gua type challenges. Some are “Clean”, mountain road challenges. Prizes and merchandise are kept functional and commercialism is kept to a minimum.
We have been and are reliant on the passion of the community, helping make these races and challenges happen. We rely on participant entry fees to cover our costs and brands to provide awards and prizes. Our focus is to provide a well-organised event whose primary goal is participants’ experience, not the sale or marketing of a location or brand.
The essence of a DirtyClean Challenge:
Segment-based: our challenges and events happen mostly on open roads! To make them safer, we make them segment-based, so you don’t need to speed through the more dangerous sections. Note: cycling always has associated risks and dangers! We also make them segment-based, so you are more social during the events. Chat and support your fellow riders.
Self-Reliance: you should know how to change a inner tube and follow a GPS route, not be reliant completely on external support. If you don’t know how to do that, you should question why you are riding a bike and learn how to do it. We are happy to help!
Minimal Impact: As a community and activity, we really give this little thought. It’s best that our competitive, training and social rides do not hurt the environment we do our sport in! Please spend 1 /10th the time thinking about that as you do on your new jersey, bling kit or social media post! Lecture over.
Social sharing storytelling: lots of great media, both by participants and professional media producers. Trying to get to the essence of what’s a great ride, still a long way to go.
Epic: We like our challenges and races “epic”. What is epic for a new rider or an experienced one is totally different. We try to cater to both.
Less BS: Well, that’s self-explanatory.
